Get the Anthropologie Look For Less

If you read this blog then you probably know I’m a huge fan of Anthropologie and if you’ve ever shopped there you also know their prices can leave a lot to be desired. Don’t get me wrong I don’t plan on giving up my Anthropology fix anytime soon, but I’m also no fool. If I can find something similar for a fraction of the cost, I’m all over it. One of my go-tos for Anthropologie like pieces at budget friendly prices is Mod Cloth. They have an adorable selection of dresses, vintage pieces that sell like hotcakes and the cutest one of kind shoes you’ll find pretty much anywhere.

One of the dresses below is from Mod Cloth and costs $140 less then the other which is from Anthropologie, can you guess which is which? Answer below…

Summer Outfit from Anthropologie

This is one of my favorite summer outfits at the moment. I love the fit of this dress and the pockets add a touch of adorable to it’s simple design. The neutral color and shape  is also great because I can literally style this dress a zillion different ways. I’ve layered it underneath a white oxford shirt tied at the waist and loose knit cardigans, paired it with bold statement necklaces and summer scarves in fun colors like the one pictured here, the options are endless. It’s also a very light fabric so it’s perfect for summer heat. This outfit is all from Anthropologie. I usually make it a habit to mix and match pieces from different stores and lines, but I make an exception for Anthropologie because I can’t help getting carried away in this store.

These items are available at Anthropologie.

As a personal stylist many of my clients express how they’d like to wear dresses more often, but just haven’t had luck finding the right looks on their own. Well that’s what I’m here for, I do all the footwork and find the right options for them. But, for those of you who don’t have your very own personal shopper Refinery29 did a quick round-up of 15 cute spring dresses all reasonably priced under $200. Click here to view. My fave pick is the H&M belted number. What’s yours?

Tailored Blazers for Tall and Busty Women

As a woman who’s a bit taller then average I know how frustrating it can be to find blazers that fit right. It’s not uncommon to find an awesome looking blazer just to have to put it right back on the rack because it’s too short in the arms or torso. Women who are on the bustier side also have fit issues with blazers as in buttons popping open or being unable to button it over the chest at all. Thankfully someone has finally realized this gap in the market and done something about it. Quincy Apparel has just launched a website that caters to tall and busty women and states this on their site “It’s not custom, but rather a reinvention of traditional dress sizes to allow you to shop by bust, body shape, and height with every garment.” Is this long overdue or what?

H&M Plus Size Collection in US Stores

H&M recently launched it’s H&M+ plus size collection in European stores for Spring 2012 and although there hasn’t seemed to be any mention of it by H&M, rumor has it some U.S. stores are carrying it as well. This is great news for the curvy fashion forward crowd. According toTheCurvyFashionista a limited collection of the H&M Plus line is being tested in select stores and if successful the line could eventually expand. Unfortunately, H&M’s website doesn’t indicate which stores are carrying H&M+ so you may have to call around to find one near you.

Where to Shop: Ruche

I wanted to share one of my sources for finding great clothes for my clients and of course myself :) . Ruche is an online boutique that sells vintage inspired clothes at ridiculously affordable prices. They have a lot of delicate feminine pieces that are great for incorporating into what you already own and their dresses are adorable. They also have a plus sized section with a fantastic selection of figure flattering style conscious clothing for women who have extra curves to dress. Here’s a peek at some of their recent arrivals. They have a fun site with lots of resourceful info too, see the rest of what they have here.
